A story about gender identity and alternative facts set in a magical Elizabethan England.
Edwina “Wren” Weaver, who has always wished she could live in the time of giants and dragons, witnesses the murder of her father by his traitorous brother. Mistaken for a boy, she embarks on a quest to avenge her father, accompanied by her brother and by an aging and mysterious knight – like those of the old tales Wren loves – who seems to know more about Wren than he lets on.
But when their uncle also kidnaps Wren’s brother, she begins to realize that there are many secrets about who she is and what magic she may have inherited, and she questions the truth about everything she has known.
Together with the allies she and the knight collect along the way, including a young Moorish actor, a strange girl of few words, and a shapeshifting dragon, Wren must face the deadly threat from her uncle and a dark necromancer armed only with the power of her magic and true knightly ways.
Hic sunt dracones…Here, there be dragons!
